Palm Sunday 2010

Review of the Year 2009

What has been good? What needs developing?
Worship
  • Worshipping together for the right reasons i.e. festivals, Patronals, in quieter times. e.g. summer series of alternative worship. Positive feedback of children and young people being involved in worship. In particular the schools services have involved more people. Introduction of Wednesday Worship with Moseley C of E School.
  • Renewing Worship Team formed
  • Year long preparation leading to new pattern of Worship
  • Trial Seasonal Worship
  • Joint Confirmation
  • Launch of Bell Appeal
  • Good Music in services
  • Teaching Eucharist to involve children in worship
  • Continue to experiment with different forms of worship
  • Develop different kinds of music for different services
Issues that raise concern
  • Lack of Ordained Ministers
  • Is M*A*S*S sustainable for the long term?
Discipleship
  • 15 people confirmed
  • Three Confirmation Groups
  • Vision Group and Think Tanks
  • Two Start Courses
  • Discipleship Group
  • Children’s Groups continue to thrive and flourish
  • Would like to see more people exploring their faith and increase of lay leadership
  • Develop Prayer Calendar for all in the Benefice to use and for people to be prayed for.
Issues that raise concern
  • Both Discipleship and Evangelism need a full time minister and direction to enable people joining us to develop and sustain their faith
Evangelism
  • Benefice been increasingly involved with local community
  • Malawi Link
  • Mosfest (fète and concerts)
  • Christmas Tree Festival
  • Increased numbers at Social Events by people asking their neighbours
  • Continue to build on these links
  • Use Welcome leaflet
Issues that raise concern
  • Not confident on what Evangelism is or how we do it
  • Evangelism seem to be very reliant on clergy
Hospitality and Pastoral Care
  • Good social events e.g. harvest Supper, Links Night, Love Festival
  • Continued to strengthen our pastoral teams and identified areas if need e.g. elderly and bereaved
  • How are we making our social events part of our mission?
  • Pastoral scheme based on locality and development of Pastoral Contact Scheme
  • Create Welcome parties for new people
Issues that raise concern
  • Too many other things happening have meant the above not been achieved
