In 2009 St Mary’s PCC had 5 regular meetings, 1 extraordinary meeting, and 1 joint meeting with St Anne’s to discuss the Vision process. There have been 5 meetings of St Mary’s Standing Committee, and 2 joint meetings with St Anne’s.
At the APCM held in March Andrew Cartmell, Becky Greenhill, Peter Jupe, Harry Rawlings and Sarah Swainston were elected to serve as PCC members for 3 years. Mike Stocks resigned as Vice-Chairman after many years of faithful service including presiding during 2 interregna and we are very grateful for all that he has done, he remains as a PCC member and a PCC rep on Deanery Synod. Rob Brown has become Vice-Chairman. At the APCM Lis Sparrow retired after 6 years service to PCC, Debbie Barwell and Helen McNicoll resigned, and Cathie Carey resigned in December as a result of her retirement from Readership, we are very grateful to all of them for their valued contribution.
At each meeting we have heard a detailed report from the Vicar concerning worship and Ministry Team issues and have received and discussed the document "Foundations for Future Worship" and also the Vision process. The wardens have submitted regular reports about the fabric, maintenance and upkeep of the church, and have presented plans for the development of the kitchen, toilet facilities etc, the extension of the Garden of Remembrance and the installation of photovoltaic cells on the church roof.
Finance has been discussed regularly – please see Treasurer’s report for more detail; reports from PCC sub-committees have been tabled as appropriate, and are included in this annual report. The properties committee has kept PCC informed of any changes and notably the renewal of the lease to Indigo Wholefoods for 3 years.
In compliance with new regulations the PCC has registered with the Charity Commission and all PCC members are now formally trustees.
Ann Andrew, PCC Secretary, St Mary’sThe PCC of St Anne’s has met on five occasions since the last APCM on March 1s` 2009.The group consists of 10 elected members, the two church wardens, two clergy, one representative from St Mary’s PCC and the secretary. The meetings have taken place in May, July, September, November and January. In July the meeting was joined by Sally Bossingham, the Diocesan Mission Advisor and in September by Penny Peet representing the vision renewing worship team.
Ongoing discussions have been concerning the vision process and change of worship pattern, the renewal of the associate vicar’s post currently .5 priest and .5 youth worker, the use of different hymn books, environmental issues, the memorial book, the position of a verger at St Anne’s and Rosemary Donovan’s visit to Malawi and the subsequent parish linking with Magomero
Reports have been received from various committees, particularly the Youth Group, who have been given permission for various residential projects and outings, mission giving, Chimes and the joint social group.
All necessary reports and discussions have taken place about finance and there have been regular reports from the treasurer with clear indications of the financial position. Reports have also been received about the Piggott fund and the Discretionary fund. Other discussions have embraced issues to do with the buildings and maintenance, social events, and links with St Mary’s.
