For some years the Benefice has had connections with Ghana and this year we are building on these links to support a new Church being constructed in a remote part of the country some 4 hours from Accra, the capital.
Bishop Matthias, who is the first Bishop of the newly created Diocese, writes,
“The Church Building of St. Mark’s, Dzoanti is almost completed to the glory of God. Attached are two photographs of where we have got to now. The workers have run out of the aluminium sheets so we had to supplement that with old sheets. Yet the work is still not completed. We need approximately £1,085 to complete it all as a House of Prayer for the people of Dzoanti for their prayers.
“I wondered if you could put this passionate appeal in your weekly write-up with prayers for God to move someone to assist us before the hamattan strong winds so their worst. They have got to this level as a result of hard work and also your offerings from Moseley.
“That building is to the Credit of God for your missionary zeal and we are very much grateful. It is a popular opinion that you adopt this Church as one of your Churches for prayerful support.”
Note: Jeremy visited Dzoanti in 2005 and was pleased to see a newly formed congregation of over 100 with people walking miles to discover God and share fellowship in the Worship. The newly created Diocese has no links with another Diocese in England so is totally dependent on the generosity of it’s trust managed here in England. There will be retiring collections from Mothering Sunday to Easter Day to try and raise this much needed help. Please support and hopefully Bishop Matthias will visit us in July before the Lambeth Conference.
