At both Annual Church Meetings in March, the document, Our First Year Together was circulated. This outlines:
Looking at how the early Church began it’s ministry in Acts 2, Our First Year Together focuses renewing our commitment to serving God around the four major areas of: Worship, Learning, Communication, Sharing Hospitality.
Both PCC’s added some points to the programme and we now want everyone in the congregation to discern how we can achieve realistic aims and goals of serving God in the future. In May we will be having two evenings when we invite you to come and consider our proposals, look at Why we are doing this, What resources we need, How we will realise our aims and consider When we shall achieve them.
On Tuesday 6 May, 7:30 p.m. at St Anne’s Church we shall be focusing on Learning and Sharing Hospitality. Then on Thursday 15 May, 7:30 p.m. at St Anne’s Church we shall be focusing on Worship and Communication.
Having listened and discussed the proposals we shall then be holding a sermon series in June focusing on each topic; this will enable us to then mark an important stage in the Vision Journey at St Anne’s Patronal Festival in July. In the autumn we will then work out how we implement our plans and realise the cost of each proposal. In a similar way to a business plan we hope to then refine our ideas in 2009, so what we aim for is a set of plans which are sustainable and realistic to achieve.
As we grow and life changes, the Vision will develop accordingly, but it’s important to have a clear path to follow to begin focusing on how we achieve specific objectives in mission. All the time we need to remember that the love of Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and that he must be at the heart of what we follow, proclaim and demonstrate. May God’s Holy Spirit renew our Churches and at Pentecost continue to breathe new life into our worship and witness to Christ today.
