What is MAF? As you may already know, Mission Aviation Fellowship is a Christian organisation whose mission is to fly light aircraft in developing countries so that people in remote areas of Africa and Papua New Guinea can receive the help they need. Normally, passengers contribute a highly subsidised fare towards the true cost. The balance that makes flights possible comes as gifts from people concerned that others should have a better life both spiritually and physically. One of the ways MAF obtains income is from the sale of picture postcards, old, new, used and unused of any kind, as long as they are in reasonably good condition.
Should you wish to send some, The Revd Ken Thom (75 Marlborough Crescent, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN13 2HR) will be happy to receive them. He has raised over £25,000 for MAF since he began selling cards over 20 years ago. Extra care should be taken in ensuring that the correct postage is used. Recently Royal Mail appears to be checking the weight of packages. If the postage is even slightly inadequate, Ken Thom has to pay a surcharge (automatic £1 penalty plus the amount of the deficit.)
