Christmas started early for me as St Mary’s Choir was invited to sing at the ICC. With stuffy cassocks and blazing lights the ICC wasn’t my favourite choice to sing at. However King’s Heath Lodge was much nicer, as when I entered the jolly dining hall I was greeted with smiley faces and merry men. I wasn’t put off at all, especially as I was singing my favourite carols. An unusual and unexpected surprise this Christmas was to singing with ‘the one and only’ Kimberly, who had a beautiful voice. When I found out I was going to meet someone from “X-Factor”, I didn’t want to miss this chance, so I decided to go to the Pallisades. When I arrived, I met a strange man passing a microphone round. I wonder who he would pass it to next? Well, the answer was me, I was petrified. However, it wasn’t that bad after all.
Unfortunately Advent went amazingly quickly and Christingle was coming up. When the night came, I could not wait for the Christingles to be served out with my hard work written all over them. This was because I had helped to make them with other children and teenagers. My job was to make the hole in the orange so the candle would fit in (quite messy really). I was very excited to come to Midnight communion this year, as it was my first. And, as I had a lovely time that evening with my family, I thought nothing could go wrong. However, it dawned on me that I was deputy head chorister for the evening — I couldn’t fall asleep in front of everybody now. In addition, there were candles right beside my music. Fortunately nothing caught fire apart from Giles’ cassock, though nothing serious.
So now you know about my choir Christmas, why not come and join the fun?
