The Vision Team’s recent discussions were helped by Revd Andrew Mottram, who explained to us the Church’s five marks of mission, namely: Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure. This last one is of particular significance today when we are considering Stewardship. As outlined in the Team’s presentation, we are extremely fortunate that over hundreds of years, worshippers have ‘treasured’ St Mary’s and St Anne’s and have kept them in the (relatively) strong position we have inherited, both structurally and financially. Now it is our turn to do the same for future generations.
The Team’s Vision is for a prayerful, welcoming, church, led by the Spirit, which shares Christ’s love with the whole community. Our recommendations present exciting opportunities to make the Benefice a vibrant, diverse, inclusive, caring and nourishing body within Moseley. We now need to grasp these opportunities. Each of us has a responsibility to give what we can to facilitate the work of the Church. This support may primarily be financial; but we also have many individual talents that can be used to take our Benefice forward. Let us all reflect over this coming week how we can enhance our personal contribution to the benefit of the Church and to the glory of God.
Almighty God, you show to those who are in error the light of your truth, that they may return to the way of righteousness: grant to all those who are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's religion, that they may reject those thing that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same: through our Lord Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
