There are eight years and approx 500 pupils, however pupils don’t necessarily start at five and finish at 13, it depends on what age they started and how quickly they progress. Consequently a small gender neutral wrapped gift would be gratefully received. Please place contributions in the back of either church by the Sunday 15 November. For further information please see flyer in Church.
Thanks RosemaryWe will be holding the final group during the 10:00 a.m. service at St Mary’s (the same time as the Children’s Sunday Groups) today and hope that you may be able to join us.

| There is much to celebrate and give thanks for in the Benefice. Come and share God’s Glory with others. | ||
Our first passage describes the call of the 72 disciples and marks a huge advance in Jesus’s relationship with them. Whereas they have tagged along half living a life of their own, half witnessing, sharing and working with him, suddenly they are commissioned to share in His life. Jesus has worked out tactical schemes for spreading news of his kingdom. He advises apostles to keep a routine and if possible stay with a considerate lodger. They should go about in couples and not let themselves hanker after the past.
It’s all like setting up St Mary’s. Plans, discussion, trials get thrown about. As much as possible the congregation are invited to have ownership. This spreads as more get involved and ideas are tested and spread within the group. The second passage from Titus comes later. Small churches have been set up in Greece and Asia Minor. The individual Churches have had their set-tos, but St Paul has been in charge and he is now talking of retiring. Discipline is seen in terms of athletics, and competition, advice and a slap of a wrist. We have seen in the readings an honest appraisal of stages of development. It is a fascinating picture of how community develops. The problems of St Mary’s and St Anne’s have repaid so much study that we are presented with so many opportunities.
Almighty God, you called Luke the physician, whose praise is in the gospel, to be an evangelist and physician of the soul: by the grace of the Spirit and through the wholesome medicine of the gospel, give your Church the same love and power to heal; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
