logomusictime.png

Free, half hour music session on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. for children aged 0+ years old. We aim to sing nursery rhymes, Christian songs, play simple musical instruments, hear stories from the Bible, learn basic musical concepts and move to music. Parents or care-givers help their child through each activity or song. No previous musical experience is required. Squash and bikkies after each session.

For more information please Contact Mick Perrier on: 07967 595 881, or via mick@mperrier.freeserve.co.uk.

Music Time will re-commence in February.

Notice from Children’s Subcommittee at St Mary’s

Plans are now continuing to make the Family Worship Zones permanent. These areas will be improved and are enjoyed by many as good places for families and children to worship in. For both the safety of children and to allow the dignity of worship for all, the subcommittee and the PCC have requested a kind reminder that all children in both the family worship zones and across the church are supervised at all times and request that children, for their own safety, do not climb over pews or run in the building.

Collection for Cathie Carey

There will be a collection to mark Cathie’s ministry in the Benefice: if you would like to contribute to a gift to be presented at Candlemas, then please give it to any of the Clergy and Wardens before Thursday 4 February.

Church Cleaning at St Mary’s

Sheila Perks has unfortunately had a fall and will not be able to clean the church for several weeks as she recovers. Different groups have agreed to clean different parts of St. Mary’s which leaves only the main nave and side aisles of the church for the general congregation to clean. This would only take two people about one hour to do each week. The more that sign up the less often you will have to do it. Remember St Mary’s belongs to all of us so it is the responsibility of all of us to keep it clean in these circumstances. Please sign up on the sheet at the back of church. Cleaning materials are kept in the cupboard in the crèche and keys for access can be arranged via the Parish Office, 449 2243.

Special Offer

We have two spare copies of New Daylight (Bible Reading Notes). If you would like to have one at the reduced price of £3 please contact Ann Andrew at the Parish Office ASAP.

Rotas For St Mary’s

Rotas for 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. readers are now ready for February and March, please look in pigeon holes.

Thought for the week by Helen McNicoll

Straight to the point

Before this is printed we will have had our United Service, and one gives thanks that we live in a country where this is possible and joy that people want to participate as a ‘body’ to glorify God. Becoming a God-empowered ‘body’ is not easy for any group, be it community, church, school or any other. However, this time of the year is very helpful, while we still have the carol ‘We three kings’ echoing in our minds, we can give thought to the Kings’ three gifts, and thank God for our recognised and unrecognised gifts and prayerfully ask Him to show us how to use then for the benefit of the ‘body’. We may be surprised by the answer! God gives everyone strength beyond understanding to carry out His hopes and plans to contribute to a ‘body’. My father’s grandfather clock stands in our hall, but without my father’s care it does not strike or tick. I know all the parts are there, it just needs a guiding hand, and this is what our heavenly father gives us all in plenty, to make a wholly functioning ‘body’, strengthened by many prayers from all sorts of sources and our ability to respect, recognise and encourage each other within that ‘body’ however small or large or quietly the gifts may be delivered.

The symphony needs each note
The book needs each word
The house needs each brick
The ocean needs each drop of water
The harvest needs each grain of wheat
The whole of humanity needs you as and where you are
You are unique
No one can take your place
