Jesus said, Keep awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Amen. Come soon, Lord Jesus!
The first candle is lit and this response is used: Jesus is the light of the world. A light no darkness can ever put out.
Advent candles tell their story as we watch and pray, longing for the Day of Glory. “Come, Lord, soon,” we say. Pain and sorrow, tears and sadness, changed for gladness on that Day.
Our prayrers and prayers are asked for Ted Redfearn, Maurice Finney, Sarah Lewis, Hannah, Felix Robert Meikle and Peter Wake.
We celebrate the birthdays of Maisie Cartmel, Mark Griffiths and Mick Perrier (3) and Nathan Light (7).

Advent is all about preparations, physical and spiritual ones. We need to be ready to celebrate Christmas. We need to be ready to welcome Christ into our lives. No matter where we are on life’s journey, this time of year is exciting, frustrating and challenging. Exciting because of the promises of hope and expectation, frustrating because we have to wait, and challenging because Advent gives us opportunity to take stock and examine where we are on the highway to God.
Are we ready for God? Are we open to what the Holy Spirit can be saying? Are we honest in our relationships? During this Advent we in Moseley are exploring the theme of the INN crowd. Are you in or out? Are you willing to journey with us or frightened of setting out? Will you walk in the light or live in fear and darkness? Let us all take a leap of faith into the unknown because we do not know the day or the hour…
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
